Jeffrey R. Ray
Mr. Ray is an experienced defence lawyer who has practiced in New Westminster
since 1988. He is skilled at defending clients in court or negotiating
outcomes on their behalf.
While he represents clients at all levels of court, Mr. Ray prefers to
handle complex matters at both the trial and appeal level. He regularly
appears in the B.C. Court of Appeal and has appeared in the Supreme Court
of Canada. He was recently involved in the precedent-setting decision
of the Supreme Court of Canada that affected the sentencing restrictions
on people considered to be dangerous offenders.
Mr. Ray grew up in the lower mainland, attending Simon Fraser University
and then completed his law degree at the University of Saskatchewan in
1987. He is committed to the improvement of the legal system, volunteering
on the Criminal Tariff Committee of the Legal Services Society (Legal
Aid) and appearing as a guest lecturer at the Bar Admission Course for
the Law Society of B.C.
